"A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls"
Do you have concerns about falling? Many older adults experience concerns about falling, and restrict their activities. "A Matter of Balance" is an award-winning program designed to help seniors manage falls and increase activity levels.
This program emphasizes practical strategies to stay safe, including:
• Learn to control falls
• Set goals for increasing activity levels
• Make changes at home to reduce the risk of falling
• Exercise to increase strength and balance
Who should attend?
• Anyone concerned about falls
• Anyone interested in improving balance, flexibility, and strength
• Anyone who has fallen in the past
• Anyone who has restricted activities because of concerns about falling
These programs, led by Lindsay Willman, will be held at the Peebles Library on Mondays and Wednesday, from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. from July 29 - August 21, and pre-registration is required. For more information and to register, please call 937-587-3081.
Stop by the Manchester Library on Saturday, August 3 from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. for a giant book sale! Browse thousands of items, including fiction and non-fiction, paperbacks, children's books, movies, CDs, audio books, and more. All sales support the Friends of the Manchester Library, who support programming and activities at the Manchester Library.
Come join us for a free, hands-on course to learn basic computer and Internet skills. This two-part class will be held Monday and Wednesday, July 22 - 24, from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the West Union Library. These classes are free, and sponsored by the Connect Ohio Program. The Connect Ohio program ends on July 31, 2013, so join us now - these will be our last class sessions.
The Adams County Public Library will have a booth in the Merchant's Building at the Adams County Fair. Stop by July 15 - 19, and visit the Library's booth between 12 noon and 7:00 p.m. Kids can stop by 12:00 - 5:00 p.m. to participate in a fun activity, led by a member of the Adams County Avengers. Come learn more about library services, ask questions, and learn what your community information center can do for you. If you have a friend who's never visited the library, this is a great chance to introduce them to a staff member, and learn just how easy it is to begin using your free local library. The Manchester Friends of the Library host Giant Book Sale, Saturday, July 6 from 10 am - 3 pm, in the garage behind the Manchester Library.
