All Adams County Public Libraries will close at 4:00 pm on Thursday, November 21, in observance of memorial services for library employee Elizabeth Jenkins.
Beth Jenkins joined the library as Youth Outreach Specialist in 2012, and was instrumental in expanding outreach services to schools, parents, and families throughout Adams County. She will be missed by all her library coworkers, and by the many children and families she served.
"Elizabeth 'Beth' Ellen (Games) Jenkins, 68, of West Union, Ohio, died Friday, November 15, 2013, at Fairfield Mercy in Fairfield.
She was born September 7, 1945, in Charleston, West Virginia. She was preceded in death by parents, William C. and Clara L. (Shuster) Games. She is survived by husband, James W. Jenkins of West Union; son, David J. (Chrystal) Jenkins of West Union; two daughters, Carrie Corbitt of Pricetown, West Virginia, and Jynx (Tucker) Battrell of Boise, Idaho; brother, Ben (Sally) Games of Georgetown, Kentucky; and five grandchildren.
She retired from O.V.L.S.D. and was an elementary teacher at West Union Elementary Schools. She was a former Professor at Shawnee State University in Portsmouth and Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. She was a 1963 Graduate of West Union High School; a 1968 Graduate of the Ohio State University in Columbus; and she received a Master's Degree from Marygrove College of Detroit, Michigan.
The memorial service is Thursday, November 21, 2013, at 7 p.m. at Lafferty Funeral Home in West Union. The visitation is Thursday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m."
All Adams County Public Libraries will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.
The North Adams Library will offer an After School program for children ages 5 and up, every Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 pm. Kids are invited to come join Kris at the North Adams Library to share and discuss newly-released age-appropriate books, make crafts, meet a special guest, or watch a newly released movie. Parents, grandparents, and caregivers, if you haven't checked out your local library's Story Time lately, come join us and discover how much the library has to offer your preschool-age child. Small-group, age-appropriate Story Time will be offered at the North Adams Library every Tuesday at 11 am.
All Adams County Public Library locations will be closed on Monday, October 14 for a staff in-service day. No items will be due on October 14. Drop returns in the book return window at any library, or stop by outside to use the library's free wifi connection.
Local author Jennifer Ogden will visit the North Adams Library on Tuesday, October 15, at 10:30 am, and will read her book "Counting With Friends" to us during Story Time. Plan to stop by to help us welcome Jennifer, and learn more about her books.

The North Adams Public Library will be closed from Monday, September 16 through Saturday, September 21, as we move the library from the Seaman Community Building to our new facility at 2469 Moores Road in Seaman.
Join us as we dedicate the new North Adams Public Library building at 2469 Moores Road in Seaman, next to the North Adams High School. A dedication ceremony and ribbon cutting will be held at 2:30 pm on Sunday, September 29, and the new library building will be open for tours after the ceremony.
Join the Friends of the North Adams Library for their Annual 5K Walk/Run during the Seaman Fall Festival! The 5K Walk/Run will be held Saturday, September 21 at 8:30 am, at the new North Adams Library building on Moores Road. Register before September 14 for $12, or after September 14 for $15. Your registration fee supports the North Adams Library Building Fund.
