Library Levy on March 6 Ballot
If you believe that a library is only a place for books, you haven’t been to one of your Adams County Public libraries lately. Our libraries continue to change with the times. We are now the information centers of our communities.
Where are the books? We have them - and much more!
The public library is one of the few places in the community where taxpayers can still pick up free copies of the printed federal and state tax booklets and forms.
Governmental agencies now expect citizens to file applications such as unemployment and job searches online. The public library is the only place in the community where computers with high-speed Internet access are available for public use without charge.
The public library is the only place where patrons can receive free computer classes as well as help with those new gadgets such as iPads, Nooks, and Kindles.
And the library catalog has many eBook titles that patrons can download without charge, simply by using their valid library card.
To support these information services, a one-mill levy for ten years will be on the March 6 ballot. Property owners can see how much the levy will cost them by visiting www.adamscountyauditor.org.
